Travellers doubt safety in India's first air taxi service

Indore: The country's first air taxi service, launched with great enthusiam in Madhya Pradesh, seems to have been affected by man's most primeval fear—that of flying.
Concerned about the security of small crafts that have just a single engine, travellers are staying away from the service that was launched from Bhopal three days ago. The service aims to connect four major cities of MP—Indore, Bhopal, Gwalior and Jabalpur.
On the first flight from Bhopal to Indore there was only one passenger (a vegetable vendor) who had privately paid, while three others including Bharatiya Janta Party (BJP) state president Prabhat Jha and MPSTDC chairman Mohan Yadav were paid for by the government. The nine- seater aircraft has three seats waived off by the state government.
The Cessna C208B caravan 'commuter' aircraft uses single-engine turboprops.
